Aki Hayakawa is one of the famous characters from the Chainsaw Man series, he works for the Public Safety Devil Hunters under Makima. He is partnered with Himeno and goes on devil-killing missions with him, after the trailer was released, the fandom went crazy watching Aki’s animated version. He is the only sane one in the crazy trio of Him, Power, and Denji, they all work under Makima and follow her rules.
All three of them live together like a family, but Aki has always hated Denji and didn’t agree with the reasons he had for becoming Chainsaw Man. Aki has a personal issue with the Gun devil and wants to kill him, he is one of the most powerful fighters in the series with the contract of the Fox Devil!
How and Who killed Aki in Chainsaw Man?
Aki and Denji were roommates and lived together with power, but inside they hated each other, it was mostly from Aki’s side. He thought that Denji shouldn’t have given away his soul to the chainsaw devil and that he will lose his life sooner than he knows. But despite the hate they were bought close by Power, Aki found a family in them and it was as if he had a brother and a sister.
The Gun Devil was the devil who killed Aki’s family, he was the only one who was left alive after the massacre of his blood. He grew up with the idea of avenging his family, and thus he trained hard to join Makimas squad. When he found out that the Gun Devil has vanished and can’t be traced easily, his obsession grew more and he took a bad path for vengeance.
Aki was controlled by the Control Devil Makima, and was ordered to protect her during the fight with Gun Devil! When the Gun Devil showed up in Japan to battle Makima, she used Aki and some other devil hunters as her shield to be protected herself from the attacks. Even though we don’t have full information, you can say that Makima defeated the Control Devil!
What she did after that was horrendous, she allowed the Gun Devil to possess Aki’s body and turned him into a Gun Fiend. This led to the fight between Chainsaw Man and the Gun Devil, where this fight ended up with Denji killing Aki and the Gun Devil. However, all Aki saw inside his consciousness was a snowball fight with Denji. But the only reason Denji killed Aki was that he would have killed more innocent people in his devil form if he wasn’t stopped, he never intended to kill his own friend. Makima is obsessed with hurting Denji and loves making his life hell, this was also a part of this.
Now, will Aki return back from the dead in Chainsaw Man? No, we don’t think so, maybe he will return in further manga chapters and serve as a memory for Denji. You know at times they might also show us his backstory and how it motivated him to join the Public Safety Devil Hunters, and what was the reaction of the Association towards Makima when they found out that she is the one who turned Aki into a Gun Devil.
