How to Care for Your Print
Follow these steps to keep your print looking gallery fresh for decades.
Handling
Allow rolled prints to relax flat for 30 to 60 minutes. Handle by the edges with clean, dry hands and avoid touching the printed surface.
Placement
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and high humidity areas. North facing walls receive less UV. Use LED or incandescent lighting instead of fluorescent.
Framing
Use acid free mats and UV protective glass or acrylic for maximum longevity. Leave a small gap between print and glazing for airflow.
Cleaning
Dust framed glass with a soft cloth. Spray the cloth, not the glass. For unframed prints, use a dry microfibre cloth and never apply liquids to the surface.
Climate
Keep temperature at 18 to 24 degrees C and humidity at 40 to 60 percent. Avoid attics, basements and garages where conditions swing widely.
Storage
Store flat in acid free folders, interleaved with tissue paper, in a cool dark place. Never fold. Check stored prints annually.
⚠️ Avoid
- Prolonged direct sunlight or fluorescent lighting.
- Bathrooms, kitchens and areas above heat sources.
- Tape, adhesives or liquids applied directly to the print.
- Rolling with the image facing inward as this can crack the ink layer.
- Extreme or rapid temperature and humidity changes.
📊 Expected Lifespan
- 100+ years when framed with UV protective glazing and indirect light.
- 50 to 75 years when framed with standard glass and indirect light.
- 25 to 50 years when stored correctly in darkness.
The Iconic ‘Green Devil’ of Art Nouveau
Immortalize the golden age of French advertising with this striking reproduction of the Maurin Quina poster, originally created by the master of poster art, Leonetto Cappiello, in 1906. This piece stands as a seminal example of Art Nouveau design, moving beyond decorative detail to focus on a bold, central figure—the infamous ‘Green Devil’ (Diable Vert)—which instantly grabs the viewer’s attention. Cappiello’s style is characterized by its vivid colors and dramatic use of negative space, making this poster a timeless statement piece.
A Classic French Aperitif Advertisement
The poster advertises Maurin Quina, a quinine-based aperitif produced in Le Puy, France. The central figure, a grinning, mischievous green imp with devil horns and tail, strides confidently across the black canvas, clutching a bottle of the product. The vibrant neon-green figure contrasts sharply with the deep black background, ensuring maximum visibility and memorability. The large, clear, yellow typography anchors the design, proclaiming the brand and its origin.
Sophisticated Decor for Vintage Enthusiasts
Perfect for adding a touch of sophisticated vintage charm to your home bar, kitchen, dining area, or study. This high-quality poster print captures the graphic intensity and subtle color shifts of Cappiello’s original lithograph. It appeals not only to collectors of vintage alcohol advertisements but also to admirers of early 20th-century French graphic design and historical commercial art. Display this captivating piece to inject history and boldness into your wall decor.
