Kamado Tanjiro, is the protagonist of the Demon Slayer series, he is one of the most popular demon slayer characters who have a huge fan following. Tanjiro never wanted to become a demon slayer and get into the world of demons, but he had to choose this path in order to turn back his Demon Sister back into a human being. He promises his family to avenge their death and kill Muzan, he takes a vow to end the King of Demons so others don’t have to suffer as same as him. Tanjiro has a scar on his forehead which is similar to the one his father had, and surprisingly it resembles a lot to the one Yourichi had. He was vigorously trained under the former Water Hashira “Sakonji Urokodaki”, who trained him to become a Hashira and helped nezuko calm her demon instincts down.
You can see Tanjiro’s real potential during the final selection where a lot of potential demon slayers get eaten by demons, he also outsmarts Giyu during their first encounter with his move. Tanjiro uses his most powerful move which was passed down to him by his ancestors, the “Hinokami Kagura”, which turns his power into more like a Sun User similar to Yourichi.
Personality & Appearance
Tanjiro is a fun-loving guy who likes to work hard by selling coal to vendors to support his family, he has a very kind and pure heart and likes to help people around him. He is someone who wont support violence, unless it is protect his loved ones Tanjiro would never harm or kill anyone. He is a very compassionate person and one who is very protective of his friends and even more for Nezuko, even though all the odds were against Nezuko turning back to human he never gave up and kept her with him till his final battle with Muzan. Also, a weak thing about Tanjiro is that he can never lie as he has been honest throughout his life, living in the countryside on the mountains he had never seen the urban area and was shocked to find something as extravagant as a Train carrying people.
Tanjiro is a normal looking kid with long brown hair with burgundy tips, he wears a black and green checkered Haori over his demon slayer uniform. Tanjiro has red eyes with white pupils and he wears Hanafuda Earrings which are passed down by his predecessors. He has a noticeable scar on the left side of his forehead, during the start of the series it looked more like a burn mark but later it started appearing like a demon slayer mark. While training at Urokodaki, Tanjiro had long shoulder length hair which he tied as a ponytail, during the final selection he wore a Blue Haori with White clouds similar to the one his Master Sakonji Urokodaki wears. He carved a fox mask for Tanjiro, which had red eyes and a sun shaped scar that matched his head mark.
Abilities
Tanjiro was one of those characters who were always born with natural combat and intellect skills, Tomioka Giyu took notice of it for the first time when they faced off and Tanjiro almost outsmarted him in the battle. Even Sakonji Urokodaki was impressed by Tanjiro’s willpower and determination during his harsh trainings, he knew that he will slice the boulder one day and he sure did.
Tanjiro has some special abilities like his Enhanced smell, he was known as the kid in village who can solve anything by the sense of his smell. He also a strong head which he has inherited from his mother, during the first hashira meeting Tanjiro managed to headbutt the “Wind Hashira” Sanemi who was hurting Nezuko with his sword. Tanjiro’s immense determination combined with is speed and accuracy are something which someone can only be born with, his combat intuition during the battles is amazing! Tanjiro can unlock the transparent world by his total concentration breathing, this allows him to erase his presence just like his late father. This technique helped him to avoid Akaza’s Compass Needle and decapitate him, he learnt the breathing technique from his late father during his childhood.
Battle Techniques
Tanjiro has one of the most beautiful and deadly battle techniques in the demon slayer series, we could already see how good of a swordsman he was when he reached Sabito’s level in such a short time. During the Swordmith Arc he went through intensive training and became on par with the Hashiras in swordsmanship. Akaza was a demon who trained for over a century in hand-to-hand combat and Tanjiro defeated him in the battle during the last face off, it was clear how powerful Tanjiro is when he went against Muzan with his Sun Breathing Technique quiet similar to Youirichi Tsugikuni!
When he trained with Sakonji Urokodaki, he taught him the water breathing technique which made him use attacks similar to Giyu. But later Tanjiro leant how to use Hinokami Kagura by remembering his father dancing to it, this is a form of fire hidden by his family for ages. He can perform the water form till 10th, where his technique produces a water dragon that destroys anything he’s facing!
In the final arc of the story Tanjiro learns up to 12th forms of Sun Breathing form, where he can use the 12 different forms of Sun Breathing which was solely created to destroy Muzan’s 12 vital organs. Which are 7 hearts and 5 brains, which rotate inside his body avoiding the attacks.
