Chainsaw man is on the way to becoming one of the best anime of 2022, they have a lot of amazing characters in the series which are unique and powerful. Makima is one of them, the control devil is considered to be unbeatable and she has an egoistic personality where she treats other people like her pet dogs. Denji was almost on the verge of dying when he was saved by Pochita, after the fight he comes across the Devil Hunter Makima.
She gives him two choices, first is where he can work as a Devil Hunter in the association and the second is that he can die by her hands right there. Denji chooses to work as a Devil Hunter, Makima provides Denji with good clothes and healthy food. Her ideals were very twisted but she cared about Denji in her own way, she gave him something to live for, to eat and shelter above his head. But all she develops for him is a feeling of being his owner, someone who saved his life and that denji is her slave. But on the other hand, Denji is totally in love with Makima, and he would do anything for her even though she killed many of his close friends including his best friend “Power”
He is ready to become her slave out of love, but Makima keeps destroying whatever is dear to him. He even agreed of becoming a dog and was put on a leash by Makima, her being the control devil who knows how to mind control people. However, the real fact is that she never loved Denji or had any kind of feelings for him, she only wanted to be one with Chainsaw Man and not the boy possessing him. During their final battle, you see both of them going all out, denji attacks her as he can’t let her kill any more people who are dear to him.
Makima keeps regenerating her body with her chains, and then rips Pochita out of Denjis’ chest and thinks she has killed him. But he gets up and attacks her from behind, he used the power he shared from Power’s blood and managed to kill Makima. He chopped her head off; we all know how gruesome and weird the Chainsaw Man story is. But did you know that after killing Makima, Denji actually ate her? Yes, Denji managed to eat her body not out of vengeance but with the thought of becoming one with her.
He ate her with Rice and some soup, and also proceeded to say “So this is how you taste Ms. Makima”, so the answer to the question “Does Makima love Denji” is no! She wants the Chainsaw Man. Later he went on to adopt her dog Nayuta and looked after him so that Makima would appreciate him in the afterlife. Denji’s love for Makima was pure or being controlled we don’t know, but he says he will wait for her Reincarnation.
