Chainsaw Man has had one of the greatest releases of 2022, the anime episodes spiked up the viewership rate since it came out. The Manga is stuffed with amazing characters, bloody fights, and fan service at times, you can say that it’s a perfectly balanced story. The Chainsaw Man series has a lot in common with the Tokyo Ghoul series, they both are focused on gruesome scenes and can’t be seen by the kids.
The similarity between the protagonists is uncanny, both are traumatized badly by their past and all they want is to lead a happy life. Denji & Kaneki are two characters who care for their friends, but slowly lost all during their journey and now they have become these heartless creatures who would end their opponents. Also, the Ghoul Investigators and the Devil Hunters are so much similar, they both are filled with Devils and Ghouls hunting their kind and working for public safety.
Chainsaw Man Fans Theory
In Chapter 40 of the Chainsaw Man Manga, some fans thought that the conversation between Reze and Denji at the restaurant was somewhat Similar to Kaneki and Rize! Both of the series share quite a lot of scenes which can be seen as similar, maybe Tatsuki Fujimoto just likes the Tokyo Ghoul series and is paying tribute in his own way?
Just like Kaneki, even Denji is flattered by Reze and keeps visiting the restaurant to see her. They both form a bond over the days, this was exactly how it happened during the Café scenes in Tokyo Ghoul. Denji goes on a date with Reze after meeting her a few times, and after that, it was revealed that Reze was one of the Devil Monsters! This led to a battle between her and Denji, it was very much similar to what happened to Kaneki Ken when he was returning with Rize after a date and she turned out to be a ghoul.
Even though their names sound similar, Rize and Reze both of them bite the protagonist. Rize bites Kanekis neck and takes off the flesh, while Reze bites Denji’s tongue and chops it off. Both of the female characters die soon after their meeting with the protagonist, Reze is killed by some other character and Rize dies after being crumbled under the construction pillars! Now, there’s nothing more obvious than this to prove that maybe the creator was hinting to show some love to the fellow mangaka! We are nowhere saying that Fujimoto has plagiarized anything from Tokyo Ghoul, mangakas have a habit of paying tributes to each other in their respective series. Tokyo Ghoul has been one of the greatest Manga series, and it’s the same with Chainsaw Man has started with its first season.
