Kokushibo is the second antagonist after Muzan, he is also known as the Upper Moon One and the strongest Demon created by Muzan’s blood. Kokushibo’s real human name is “Michikatsu Tsugikuni”, which he abandoned when he became a demon because he doesn’t like to be reminded of his time as demon. In his early days Kokushibo was always jealous and envied the power of his younger twin Yoriichi, this leads him to a path where he decided to turn into a demon just to defeat Yoriichi once in his life. He is a tall demon with three set of eyes on his face and has red markings on his face that resemble flames. In terms of power, he is just behind the Demon King Muzan, during his 500 years as a demon he has killed a lot of demon slayers and hashiras.
Kokushibo is the user of the most powerful breathing technique which is “Total Concentration Breathing” and he also possesses the most perfect blood of Muzan inside his body which makes him so powerful. You can see how fast and powerful he is when he slashes off Akaza’s arm in an instant, he also mercilessly chopped of parts of Muichiro Tokito who is “Mist Hashira” and was the youngest ever to become one. He battled Gyomei, Muichiro and Sanemi the two most powerful Hashira’s and a prodigy alone with his unimaginable strength. It took Three Hashiras to push Kokushibo in a corner during a battle, his amazing character design and his deadly skills enough to end hashiras, puts him in our top 10 most popular demon slayer characters.
Personality & Appearance
Kokushibo had a very silent nature, he was well reserved and didn’t like to speak much, if he would ever make a mistake, he would admit his failure and accept it. He has the utmost respect for the Demon King Muzan and the hierarchy of the Twelve Kizuki, him being the Upper Rank one he doesn’t like to speak a lot with the other demons, but when he speaks its always something important. Unlike Akaza and Doma, Kokushibo was always loyal towards Muzan and his goals, and worked without doubting the plans of the demon king. As a human Kokushibo was always envious of his younger brother Yoriichis strength and natural power, he was the strongest demon slayer in the existence and the fact that he was still alive during his old age made Kokushibo more jealous of him.
Kokushibo’s has a very tall stature and pale white skin, his hair looks exactly same to Yoriichis as they are siblings. The prominent feature on his face is his 3 Set of Eyes, where his middle set of eyes have “Jogen” and “Ichi” which means Upper Rank One! During his human days as Michikatsu, he had a similar appearance but only one set of eyes with purple iris and white sclera, he wore a white kimono unlike the purple and black checkered one he wears a demon. Before his death during the final arc, you can see Kokushibo fill with regret and cries missing his brother and family, he feels that he did a big mistake to become a demon, just match the level of Yoriichi Tsugikini his brother whom he could never beat.
Ability
Kokushibo is the strongest demon after Muzan, he is known as the Upper Rank One in the Twelve Kizuki which has powerful demons created by the demon king. He knows how to use the total concentration breathing an also has the best amount of concentrated blood of Muzan running inside him, with his immense skill he has killed many hashira’s and demon slayers over the past 500 years. Like some of the talented demon slayers, even Kokushibo can make use of the transparent world and his speed is so fast that he can cut don opponents before they even think of their next attack!
As a human Kokushibo got his demon slayer mark when he trained vigourously with his younger brother Yoriichi, he was bound to die by the age of 25 because of the curse of the demon slayer mark. But that never happened because Kokushibo turned immortal by becoming a demon, but the power boosts he got into his abilities stayed with him throughout the time. He has the ability to absorb humans and demons without physically eating them, after a demon battles and loses to him, kokushibo absorbs their body and uses them as a meal. Kokushibo’s menacing aura, his incredible swordsmanship and his powerful strength makes him one of the top 10 most popular demon slayer characters.
Battle Techniques
Kokushibo is the best swordsman alive in the demon slayer series after the death of his younger brother Yoriichi, he trained under his younger brother and that made his skills even better and unbeatable. For over 400 years he trained his swordsman skills, this made him so good at it that it was nearly impossible to stop him during a fight and it took three Hashira’s to kill him during the final arc. Kokushibo always believed in the fact that he thought that he and his younger brother were so powerful that it was impossible for future generations to surpass them in any way, he combined his swords skills with his blood demon art and made a deadly attack which was enough to kill demon slayers in one slash if they come in contact, and this is why he is one of the top 10 most popular demon slayer characters.
Kokushibo’s the first Demon to use a breathing style, he’s Moon Breathing style combined with blood demon art created crescent shaped moon slashes which were enough to slice down human beings. During the centuries he lived as a demon, he continued to keep transforming and creating different breathing style attacks. He can perform over 16 Forms of Moon Breathing Techniques, where in the 16th form is called “Moonbow/ Half Moon”, where he creates half moon shaped slashes in a huge radius to attack his opponents. The move is so deadly that it creates huge craters wherever it lands, the attack turns its power into ten folds till it touches its opponent.

- Kokushibo has been challenged 3 times for the Upper Rank One position, in one of them he fought Akaza and won the battle. Even though he absorbs the demo who loses, he let akaza live because he liked his competitive nature to be the best!
- Kokushibo is the first demon slayer to turn himself into a demon.
- Muzan considers Kokushibo as a business partner in the long run of defeating the demon slayers
- Kokushibo once managed to kill the leader of the Demon Slayer corps, this caused havoc in the corp and they had to hide the location of the future leaders for their safety.
