A 1988 concert poster with Guns N’ Roses on the bill in New York City, NY, from the Appetite for Destruction era.

About this 1988 concert poster

Concert posters capture a moment in music history, down to the venue and the date. It was designed to promote a 1988 concert in New York. 1980s music posters reflected MTV-era style, from new wave graphics to heavy metal illustration. Concert posters are often the only surviving record of a particular line-up on a particular night. Many concert posters listed several bands, capturing who shared the stage on a given night. Concert posters were made to promote a single show, which is why so few originals survive.

Styling this vintage concert poster

For fans of Guns N’ Roses, this 1988 poster from New York is a striking way to bring live-music history home. At 24×36″ it becomes a statement piece, while 11×14″ or 12×18″ fits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Finish this vintage concert poster with a black or antique-gold frame for a clean, gallery-style look. For a gallery wall, pair this vintage concert poster with two or three smaller prints, spaced 2–3 inches (5–8 cm) apart. For the most natural view, place the centre of this vintage concert poster at eye level, around 57 inches (145 cm) high.
