John Matrix was originally written as a role for Gene Simmons, but the film ultimately became a definitive vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s peak action era. This print captures the actor at the height of his physical presence, clad in a tactical vest with grenades strapped to his chest.

About Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger became an action star with Conan the Barbarian (1982) and The Terminator (1984). 1980s posters are known for painted adventure, neon sci-fi and video-store nostalgia. Action posters often use a low camera angle to make their heroes look larger than life. The original dates from 1985. Painters such as Drew Struzan and John Alvin created many of the decade’s most famous posters.

Styling this Arnold Schwarzenegger poster

This Arnold Schwarzenegger poster has a moody presence that sets the tone of a room. Choose 24×36″ to make “Commando” the focal point above a console, or 11×14″ to 16×20″ for a bedside or hallway wall. A simple black or oak frame suits “Commando” well and keeps the focus on the image. “Commando” also anchors a gallery wall well; surround it with smaller pieces at even 2–3 inch gaps.
