Product description

Though often mistaken for semaphore spelling out H-E-L-P, the arm positions on the beatles help art print were actually chosen by photographer Robert Freeman for their graphic symmetry rather than their literal meaning. The composition is defined by a primary yellow field, accented by the four black-and-white portraits of John, Paul, George, and Ringo at the top.

About The Beatles

The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960 and became the most influential band in popular music. Their albums and films produced some of the most recognisable artwork of the 1960s. Spy films, epics and counterculture cinema all left their mark on 1960s poster art. The late 1960s saw a boom in psychedelic poster art, with swirling hand-drawn lettering and clashing colours. The original dates from 1965.

Styling this Beatles poster

Black, white and yellow tones give this Beatles poster a bold character that holds a room. Its tall format suits narrow walls, hallways and the space beside a doorway in a dorm room, with 18×24″ a versatile middle size. Finish this Beatles poster with a black or antique-gold frame: its black, white and yellow palette warms up grey or white walls and suits natural wood and brass accents.
