Brand: MerchFuse

Emerging from a trailer park dream as a fake trailer before becoming a full-length feature, this print captures the raw energy of the 2011 cult classic. The illustration by Jeff Proctor utilizes a muted grey and beige palette, which contrasts sharply against the visceral, saturated reds of the blood pooling around the central decapitated figure.

About alternative movie posters

Screen-print style posters use a few flat colours and clever symbolism instead of star photos. Horror has the boldest poster tradition in cinema, from Expressionist shadows to modern minimalism. Alternative movie posters reinterpret films through an artist’s eye, often as limited-edition screen prints.

Styling this alternative movie poster

This alternative movie poster pairs a vibrant atmosphere with a red palette that is easy to build a room around. Choose 24×36″ to make “Hobo with a Shotgun” the focal point above a console, or 11×14″ to 16×20″ for a bedside or hallway wall. The red palette of “Hobo with a Shotgun” stands out against warm neutrals and charcoal; finish it with a simple black or oak frame. Build a gallery wall around “Hobo with a Shotgun”: add two or three smaller prints that echo its red and keep the gaps to 2–3 inches.
