About Jerry Uelsmann

Jerry Uelsmann (1934–2022) was an American photographer famous for surreal photomontages. Uelsmann built his dreamlike images in the darkroom by combining several negatives, long before digital editing. Without colour, a photograph relies on contrast, texture and composition, which is why black and white feels timeless.
