Product description
Rooted in the poetic surrealism of the early twentieth century, this composition brings together a floating couple in a dreamlike embrace beside towering, flickering candles. The palette is a masterclass in emotional resonance, utilizing deep reds and lush greens against an earthy, village-scape background.
About Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was born in present-day Belarus and worked mainly in France. Chagall’s floating lovers, violinists and village scenes draw on folk tradition and memory. The original image dates from 1939. He created stained glass, ballet designs and the ceiling of the Paris Opera, as well as paintings and prints.
Styling this Marc Chagall print
Red and green tones give this Marc Chagall print a surreal character that holds a room. Its tall format suits narrow walls, hallways and the space beside a doorway, with 18×24″ a versatile middle size. The red and green palette of this Marc Chagall print stands out against warm neutrals and charcoal; finish it with a black or antique-gold frame. Build a gallery wall around this Marc Chagall print: add two or three smaller prints that echo its red and green and keep the gaps to 2–3 inches.
