About Kawase Hasui

Hasui travelled across Japan sketching quiet temples, snowy streets, moonlit lakes and rain. In 1956 Hasui was named a Living National Treasure in Japan. Western artists including Van Gogh and Monet collected Japanese prints and borrowed their bold compositions.
